Wow what a cool commercial, VW does it again by engaging the viewer with a spectacle of exciting flying elbows and ass kickin’s! Its almost as if they got inside of the guys head in the commercial while he fell asleep at his desk day dreaming. Great work VW after watching the video I immediately did some push-ups and started punching the air… oh yeah I’m pumped!

Well I’m not really sure where they are going with this ad campaign I’m sure there are more creative ways to sell a good pair of scissors. In any case advertising agency: Saint Elmo’s from Munich, Germany came up with this off the wall ad campaign for Amboss. Amboss is a manufacture of top of the line scissors. I tried to find their website but didn’t find anything, I can’t believe its not on the actual ads.

I guess the Photoshop work is good but the ad just doesn’t work for me. What do insects and scissors have in common? Insects and scissors have about as much in common as Richard Simmons and Billy Blanks!

I don’t know call me old fashioned but I think the only time you should use close-ups of insects for advertisement are for the following: Discovery Channel ads, bug spray or a creepy insect movie.

So in summary this ad is bad because insects are just damn creepy, theres no website on the ad and finally there are freegin insects selling scissors!

Wow, you want a smart advertising campaign to launch a new television station, nah… how about an ANTI-campaign? Advertising agency: Cesario Migliozzi, from Los Angeles nailed it for their client Time Warner Cable.

StopGoodTV.com is deceptively launching a new cable TV channel in NYC. To break through, they’ve devised an anti-campaign with the ultimate anti-spokesman (the devil). All creative efforts focus on the devil trying to stop people from tuning in. The pay off is the website, where you can interact with the devil, buy some of his merch and sign his petition to stop this new network. His myspace.com page has him “friends” with everyone from porn stars to Barack Obama and everyone in between.

I think this campaign is absolutely genius, after all it got my attention and I went straight to the website. I haven’t seen this tactic used in a long time, so long that I can’t remember. In any case you know what they say any publicity is good publicity even bad publicity. Its not everyday that you find a company purposefully putting out “bad” propaganda to pull a reverse psychology stunt .

Great work to the staff and crew listed below for creating such a cool… ANTI-cool campaign!

I could hardly believe it when I saw it but it looks like Vodka tossing is a new sport in Russia. I can’t fault the Russians after all we have “beer pong” here in the states! The new sport of Vodka tossing has a bit more skill and can possibly involve fire. When you start seeing Americans lighting ping pong balls on fire then we’ll really have something to talk about!

What a concept, to update a countries old national anthem. I can see people lining up on both sides of the fence to argue the pros and cons of changing the traditional national anthem of any country. I went to Advance Australia Dare to see what all the fuss was about and was delighted by what I found.
“Let’s face it, the Aussie anthem has never had a fair go (it was written over 120 years ago when the word ‘girt’ was all the craze, so you can’t fault it). But now, you can change all that and you can be the star performer.”

Basically the website is challenging the county to update the old and outdated national anthem, no rules, no regulations… just run with it. In addition to the website there are other promotional materials that have been put together to spark interest with the public. The advertising agency that was hired to create the campaign is none other then, agency “Loud Sydney” from Sydney Australia.
Along with the website Loud Sydney came up with a spectacular print campaign that is running across the Australian continent, here are more images of their very creative work.

The artwork for all of these print pieces is very creative, what I like best about what the artists David Halter and Ryan Lonsdale did is take the typography to the next level. The mix of typography and the actual artwork are one in the same, for me its always special when a an artist can incorporate the “type” into the artwork and make it all look cohesive.

Kudos to the design team and art director (Darren Seddon) for their great work and even more kudos to Advance Australia Dare for coming up with such a cool idea. To ask a country to take on the responsibility of updating or changing the national anthem is a lot to ask. From checking out the website of Advance Australia Dare its apparent the people are ready and willing to participate.
Good luck Australia and happy Australia Day!

Mr. Echo

When it comes to raising awareness about the environment and global conservation there are a handful of organizations around the globe that exemplify compassion and the true power of love… Greenpeace is one of them. Advertising agency: Leo Burnett of Hong Kong was recently commissioned by Greenpeace to create a visual ad campaign to raise awareness about the destruction of our environment and animals with and emphasis on how in some ways, we’re still living like we did in less civilized times.

Believe it or not there are still hundreds of whaling ships around the world especially in the southern hemisphere. Countries like Japan head out everyday to hunt and slaughter these beautiful majestic animals only to feed what seems to be a never ending hunger from our brothers and sisters in the orient.

In order to save these and other animals around the world people need to be aware of what is happening to them. If everyone could see just how these animals are hunted and killed I think the outrage around the globe would be enough to send a clear message to stop this inhumane 19th century way of living.

The first step to stop these atrocities is to raise awareness and that’s just what Greenpeace is doing here with these ads. The ads themselves are very creative, unlike anything I’ve ever seen come across the Casualty of Design scope of view.
I would like to commend Greenpeace number one for addressing such and important issue but secondly for doing it with such style! This ad is sure to gain the attention of a lot of people, once the attention has been had then the message will spill over… mission accomplished!
Here is a video for a peek into how barbaric and inhumane whale hunting is. (Graphic video, be warned.)
